Summary 

A quality engineer to monitor and improve the quality of our operational processes and outputs. The quality engineer's responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions. You will also work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures.

 

Essential Duties and Primary Responsibilities

 

A. Training, Lean LPA and 5S                                                                                  10%

B. Audit – 3rd Party and Customers, Document Control                                          20%

C. Quality Systems/APQP     /PPAP                                                                        20%

D. In Process Test Methods, Calibrations                                                                20%

E. Non-Conformance/Corrective Actions                                                                 10%

F. Incoming and in Process inspections, Calibration                                                15%

Responsibilities 

A. Training, Lean Layer Process Audits, and 5S (10%):

· Accomplishes quality assurance resource objectives by supporting the training of the quality operations team on the appropriate process of quality inspections.

· Help support department and organization reputation by reducing process waste and improving organization and cleanliness, driving assigned projects to successful completion. exploring opportunities to add value to the organization.

 

B. Audit – 3rd Party and Customers, Document Control (20%):

 · Support external/internal quality audits and third-party surveillance activities.

 · Support internal quality audits to drive QMS improvement and maintain ISO 9001/IATF certifications.

 · Drive and monitor the required actions based on the audit activity listed above.

 · Monitor and maintain active and effective document control systems in support of the QMS and      effective/efficient operation.

 

C. Quality Systems/APQP     /PPAP (20%):

· Achieves Key Performance Indicator (KPI) objectives (Scrap, Customer Claims, Cost of Non quality)by helping develop the appropriate production/quality data collection process, collecting data (including nonconformance), and conducting the appropriate analysis to allow for the appropriate continuous improvement strategic plans to be enacted. This includes owning a project or being a part of a team that implements Corrective or Preventative action to ensure the KPIs are met.

· Develop quality control plans (QCP) by identifying critical control points and implementing preventive measures or test methods, understanding machine or material process limits, monitoring production inspection results, and verifying or updating quality procedures.

· Support and or facilitate PPAP process for new launch and or engineering changes.

 

D. Incoming Material/Production Testing Inspections/COA  (20%):

·  Conduct incoming and onsite testing and verification process.

·  Review and file receipts for Certificate of Analyst

·  Conduct inspections to verify that raw materials, equipment, and finished products meet quality specifications. They identify any defects or deviations from standards.

·  Responsible for the daily/weekly/annually testing and validation of incoming material/production finished goods.

·  Conduct incoming and onsite testing and verification process. Conduct AFR Testing Conduct weekly AFR Measurements and report out results to plant staff Identifies quality data trends to develop and lead corrective & preventive action.

 

E. Non-Conformance (10%):

· Manages internal aspects of the nonconformance system (NC). Supply reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends including non-conforming assemblies, processes issues, and Supplier (raw material and module) issues. Work with SQE on supplier-related issues. Work on the RMA team to address customer issues. Support root cause and corrective actions and validations.

 

F. MSA, Calibration (15%):

· Developing incoming documents and completing dimensional inspections of incoming and in-process products using various variable and attribute gauging methods based on QCP and Product Engineer drawings and specifications. Help support the process of going electronic.

· Responsible for ensuring the compliance of the calibration system and requirements.

· Support Engineering teams to support design review and tolerances definition in line with manufacturing equipment and supplier process capabilities.

· Responsible internal/external calibrations ( some internal verifications as needed)

· Facilitating with outside sources for scheduling of calibrations

· Maintain all calibrated equipment and or gages. (ensure all gages and or equipment have legible and up to date calibrations ) This is related to ensuring accurate and up to date records of calibration.

· Maintain calibration data using our gage pack tracking system.

· Responsible for conducting, facilitating, and maintaining MSA reporting ( Gage R&R, Dimensional, Capability Studies) annually, for new launch and or engineering changes utilizing gage pack and Minitab.

 

G. Other duties as Assigned (5%)

· Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or designated individual.

 

 

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:

Bachelor of Science in engineering or quality with at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Certification as a lead auditor is considered an asset.
  • ASQ certification as a quality engineer is considered an asset.
  • Must understand and be able to develop and document inspection methods and practices.
  • Experienced in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action systems and follow through.
  • Able to work within a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong data collection and analysis skills.
  • Strong understanding of quality and Process Controls.
  • Understanding of Quality Audits (internal and external)
  • Working knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools – DMAIC problem-solving.
  • Experience with MSA
  • Experience in statistics, procedure implementation, and quality auditing preferred.
  • Experience in procedure implementation and quality auditing preferred.
  • Familiarity with formal Quality System (ISO 9001, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with a cross functional team.
  • Demonstrates and promotes team leadership ability.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analytical methods, quality control practices, statistical analysis, and related theory.
