Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head Quality and Environment,
Health and Safety (EHS) – Europe to lead the related activities across our European
operations. This executive role is critical in ensuring product excellence, customer
satisfaction, compliance with international standards, and continuous improvement
across our manufacturing sites and supply chain.
This position is open due to the upcoming retirement of the current job holder, who
has played a key role in building a robust and respected quality culture. We are
looking for a successor who can build on this strong foundation.
You will lead an international team and collaborate closely with the executive
leadership team, plant managers, engineering, operations, and key automotive OEM
customers to ensure our products consistently meet or exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Leadership:
Define and execute the regional Quality & EHS strategy in alignment with
global goals and automotive industry standards (e.g., IATF16949, ISO14001,
ISO45001, ISO50001).
• Operational Excellence:
Drive improvement initiatives across all European manufacturing plants (27
plants in 11 countries), engineering centers, supplier quality functions to meet
KPIs on Health & safety, Sustainability, Customer satisfaction, Customer
claims/defects and Cost of Non-Quality,
• Customer Management:
Serve as the senior quality representative for key European OEM and Tier 1
customers. Lead quality reviews, audits, and issue resolution with a customercentric
approach.
• Team Leadership:
Lead, develop, and mentor a team with diverse perimeters (Management
System, Health & Safety, Sustainability, Operations Quality, Supplier Quality,
Program Quality, Operational Excellence / around 50 employees) and plantlevel
quality managers. Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, quality
ownership, and continuous improvement.
• Process & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and customer-specific quality
requirements. Oversee audits (internal and external), certifications, and
corrective action processes.
• Continuous Improvement:
Lead and Control the Operational Excellence Approach and other quality
methodologies to improve processes and reduce cost of non-quality.
• Data & Reporting:
Own the European quality dashboard. Analyze trends, identify root causes of
quality issues, and present actionable insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications
• Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field
(Master’s preferred).
• Experience:
- 10+ years in quality leadership within the automotive industry.
- Proven experience managing multiple sites across different European
countries.
- Strong understanding of OEM requirements, VDA standards, and
supplier development.
• Certifications:
- Certified Lead Auditor (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001) preferred
- Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent is a strong plus
• Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and change management skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, especially with
cross-cultural teams and customers
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German or other European languages
is advantageous
