Autoneum (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd.supports the businesses of other plants in Asia in sales, technology, purchasing, finance and so on. Autoneum (Shanghai) Management Co., Ltd. is located in the west north of Shanghai. It has a Development Center and an Acoustic Lab, so can offer service for the project development for the customers in China, Indian, and other areas of Asia. At moment, Autoneum have six wholly owned plants in Chongqing, Taicang, Shenyang, Yantai, Wuqing and Pinghu, as well as two JVs with Nittoku in Guangzhou and Tianjin. In addition, Autoneum have 15 JV plants with Jiangsu Huanyu in China. Autoneum have Behror and Pune wholly owned plants and Chennai JV plant in India, as well as offices in Korea and Thailand.
Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving quality systems, ensuring product conformity, customer satisfaction, and compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements. This role also supports safety initiatives and collaborates with the EHS team to ensure safe manufacturing practices, participate in risk mitigation activities, and promote a proactive safety culture on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering Duties:
- Serve as primary quality liaison for OEM and Tier 1 customers (Ford, GM, Stellantis, Mercedes).
- Lead APQP documentation (PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow) and PPAP submissions.
- Investigate quality complaints using structured problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, etc.).
- Own and drive corrective/preventive actions, escape point controls, and systemic improvements.
- Maintain compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Monitor plant quality KPIs (Scrap, PPM, First Pass Yield) and lead countermeasure plans.
- Support internal audits, layered process audits, customer audits, and readiness reviews.
- Drive supplier quality improvement actions, including claim resolution and PPAP review.
- Provide quality support during engineering changes, launches, and service production.
- Develop and deliver training on quality processes and standards.
Safety Support Duties:
- Support safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analysis related to quality and manufacturing processes.
- Assist with incident investigations that intersect quality or process conditions.
- Participate in shop floor safety inspections, layered audits, and safety Gemba walks.
- Collaborate with the EHS team on implementation of corrective actions stemming from safety incidents tied to quality issues.
- Promote safety best practices during process improvement, equipment changes, and corrective action planning.
- Monitor and enforce safe practices when working with quality inspection equipment, tools, and materials.
- Support PPE compliance and adherence to safety work instructions during inspections and problem-solving activities.
- Assist in employee training regarding safety protocols in quality and manufacturing-related functions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Quality) or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing with quality engineering responsibilities.
- Solid knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, MSA, FMEA, and SPC.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using root cause analysis methods.
- Familiar with EHS principles and basic OSHA safety requirements in a manufacturing setting or willingness to learn.
- Experience in conducting audits and supporting cross-functional improvement efforts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
