Autoneum is globally leading in acoustic and thermal management for light and commercial vehicles. The Company develops and produces multifunctional, lightweight and sustainable components and systems for interior floor, interior trim as well as engine bay and underbody. The EHS & Training Officer is identified as the Health, Safety & Environmentally Competent representative for the Stoke Plant.

EHS

  • To assist in promoting a high level of awareness and compliance in all aspects of health, safety and environmental management in relation to the day-to-day operations of the plant.
  • Promote the 20 Principles for Good Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Behaviour, supporting appropriate training of employees as required.
  • Promote a culture of engagement and continuous improvement in line with Company Values, Principles, Code of Conduct and Autoneum Production System (APS).
  • Co-ordinate, conduct, train and assist others with site risk assessments ensuring that they are (a) suitable and sufficient (b) conducted and reviewed in a timely manner and (c) compliant to the relevant Standards.
  • Assist in the development of site Safe Systems of Work.
  • Monitoring of accident and incidents – Lead investigations and the close out of actions as required, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Ensure the EHS internal audit plan is adhered to for the site. Plan, prepare and facilitate internal audits including APS.
  • Participate in all activities in relation to the achievement and maintenance of ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001. Plan, prepare and participate as required in external audits to these Standards.  
  • Support waste / energy reduction projects as required.
  • Advise as required on the categorisation of waste, waste hierarchy and disposal within appropriate legal requirements.
  • Support as required the maintenance of the COSHH Register ensuring all COSHH assessments are completed for new items coming on site and review existing ones.
  • Conduct noise surveys and audits of contractors on site.
  • Attend EHS Meetings and support as appropriate, including co-ordination of the plant EHS Committee.
  • Provide EHS advice and guidance to the Ops Team and all employees as appropriate.
  • Develop new initiatives to improve EHS on site.
  • Support as required on New Product Introduction.
  • Control, review and maintain, as appropriate, all EHS records and procedures.
  • Monitor and update the local legal register, as required, to ensure compliance.

TRAINING

  • Carry out EHS Induction for New Starters, Contractors and visitors, and other EHS training and refresher training, as required.
  • Support the development and roll out of Group EHS training.
  • Adopt and support the APS principles as required.
  • Adopt and support the Autoneum Values and Principles. 

Required experience:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of current EHS principles and legislation, in particular in relation to the ISO 14001, 45001 and 50001 Standards. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of EHS activities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably within Automotive. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate a long term career progression in the EHS function, with several years’ experience of working in complex production facilities within the FMCG, automotive, or similar environment.
  • Must be accountable, self-managing, results driven, methodical, analytical, demonstrate a high degree of integrity and professionalism, with an eye for detail.
  • A skilled communicator, able to influence others, lead by example and promote an exemplary EHS culture by use of influencing skills.
  • A pragmatic team player, able to contribute to the business beyond the operational function.
  • Excellent training and presentation skills, preferably with a recognised Train the Trainer qualification.
  • Strong Customer focus, continuously looking for ways to improve.
  • Logical decision maker with proven problem-solving ability.
  • Discrete and able to process information of a confidential and sensitive nature as appropriate.
  • High level of PC literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Good knowledge of the financial and operational drivers of the business, and how these impact upon operations; will possess a financially savvy outlook and have been a budget holder in current or previous role.

Required qualifications:

  • NEBOSH, minimum general certificate, diploma preferred
  • IEMA qualification
  • Qualified Auditor to ISO 14001
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor advantageous
